50+ Really Fun Group Games

I love a good group game – they’re so fun for a family reunion, dinner with a couple of families or a big group of kids and teenagers!

I asked my Instagram community to share their favorite group games and answers came pouring in!

Here are the most popular suggestions (and they make great gifts too!)

50+ Group Games for Any Get Together

Telestrations
This was the top suggestions for group games and it sounds so fun! Players alternate between drawing a word and guessing what others have drawn, creating a hilarious chain of misinterpretations. By the end of each round, the original prompt has usually evolved into something wildly different, making it perfect for groups who love fast, funny, and creative gameplay.

Just One
This is a cooperative game with a twist. There is a secret word one person is trying to guess. The other team members write down one word that could lead the guesser to guess the right word. If you write down the same word as another team member, that hint is thrown out. This one is a blast in a group!

Nertz
We usually play Dutch Blitz, which is essentially the same thing as Nertz, but it is one of our other go-to games. It’s a speed game and we’ve worn our cards out over the past few years playing this one endlessly. Ella is definitely the best in our family and beats Bart and me at least 80% of the time.

double dittodouble ditto

Double Ditto
This is one of my favorite games to play with a group. Pick a card, read it aloud and write your two answers down as quickly as possible, trying to match with others. Find out who you are truly nsync with!

Skull King
Skull King is a bit like hearts where you have to say how many tricks you are going to take before each round starts. You get rewarded with points if you guess the exact number of tricks. There is a lot of strategy and unpredictability, which makes it really fun! Tip – if you have a group bigger than 8, you can always get two decks, which makes it even a bit more challenging!

Herd Mentality
All you do in this game is answer simple questions and try to match with the most popular response amongst the group. You are trying to think like everyone else to earn points, but if your answer is the odd one, you fall behind in points and get stuck with the awful pink cow.

Mysterium
I’m very competitive, so it’s nice to pull out a cooperative game and work together to win. This mystery game has one player assigned to be the silent ghost who can only communicate through abstract illustrated cards to help the other players identify a murderer, location, and weapon. Working together, the investigators interpret the ghost’s hints before time runs out.

Sushi Go Party
We absolutely love Sushi Go at our house – and this deluxe edition is such a fun upgrade! It keeps the core gameplay you know and love, but adds tons of new card varieties so you can customize each round and switch up your strategy. Plus, this version accommodates up to eight players, which is perfect for larger groups.

Flip 7
This game sounds intense through a press your luck system! Everyone flips number cards one by one, trying to avoid duplicates. If you flip a number you already have, you bust and score nothing for that round. It’s fast paced and fun for lots of ages!

Farkle
Roll the dice, keep the points you have or risk it all to gain more. Easy, fast paced and tons of fun for the whole family!

Hitster
If you have a group who loves music, this is the game to play! It’s all about music guessing – listen to short song clips and try to place each track in the correct chronological timeline. Kind of like Name That Tune with a spin!

Phase 10
This game can take FOREVER, so we usually play either odds or evens or even just pick 3 phases.

Pit
This one is loud and crazy! Reminds me of those Wallstreet clips you see on the movies! Once the bell rings, everyone is shouting back and forth to trade cards. The first person to corner a commodity, rings the bell and the round is over!

Skyjo
The point of this game is to end up with the lowest value cards in front of you. Sounds really similar to Play Nine or Gnoming Around, which are both very fun!

Take 5
Another fast-paced game, where players simultaneously choose cards and hope to avoid completing rows that force them to take penalty cards. It may seem simple, but there is a surprising amount of strategy and unexpected twists.

Wavelength
This one is all about guessing and trying to read other players. Work together as one person gives a clue to guide their team to the right spot on the hidden target.

Apples to Apples (and Apples to Apples Jr.)
This one has been on repeat at our house for the last few months and I have to admit it’s not my favorite, but I don’t hate it (and the girls absolutely love it). If you have someone under 7, I would recommend the Apples to Apples Jr.

Articulate
Another fast-paced describing game, this one challenges you to get your team to guess as many words as possible in just 30 seconds—without using rhymes or any ‘sounds like’ clues. I especially love that it works with groups of 20 or more, making it a perfect pick for big gatherings like family reunions!

Balderdash
This one has been around for a long time! If you love word games, this one is for you! Make up definitions and try to trick the other players into choosing yours to gain points!

Bang
If you are looking for a 30 minute group game, this is a fun one to try! Take to the wild west–themed card game and start bluffing your way to victory. Each player has their own hidden identities and secret objectives. Using cards to shoot, defend and strategize before the jig is up.

Bohnanza
Our first five years of marriage were mega game years and this was one of our top 3 that we taught to everyone who would listen. It’s not the quickest game, but I never get tired of it.

Camel Up
Racing camels? Only in this game! Players place clever bets based on each camel’s position and the wild, unpredictable roll of the dice, creating a hilarious, high-energy challenge that’s fun for all ages.

Cartographers
I can’t stand a book with a map in the front, but give me a mapmaking board game and I’m all in! The Queen has tasked you with charting new territories in the World of Ulos, drawing unique terrain shapes across four seasons – no artistic skill required. With unpredictable monster encounters and randomly selected goals each round, this endlessly replayable game offers fresh challenges every time you play.

Catchphrase
If you love word and speed games, this is the perfect fit! Try to get your team to guess the word you are describing or hinting to and pass on to the next team. Don’t be the team caught with the device when the buzzer rings! I love that you can play this with 4 people or 20 people!

Chameleon
This one is all about bluffing. Everyone knows the secret word except the person who got the Chameleon card. The Chameleon tries to give a clue for the secret word by listening to others clues and tries to blend in.

Coup
I have seen this new card game all over teen gift guides lately! Coup is a fast-paced, bluffing card game where players take secret actions, challenge opponents, and try to outmaneuver each other to be the last one standing. Easy to learn and quick to play, it another great one for parties and game nights.

Cover Your Assets GameCover Your Assets Game

Cover Your Assets
We have played Cover Your Assets as a family about a million times over the past three years and it never gets old (or less stressful!). You try to get pairs of assets (stocks, jewelry, houses, etc) and then steal others’ assets while protecting your own. Tally has been playing this game very competently since before her fourth birthday, plus adding up the scores is great math practice for the older girls.

Deception
If you love playing detective, this is the game for you! With quick 20-minute sessions, each player takes on a role (murderer, investigator, etc.) then investigates the crime and makes their best guess to crack the case.

Hues and Cues
This game was more challenging and fun than I thought it would be. Connect colors and clues in order to move your game piece all the way around the board.

It’s in the Bag
If your family loves a good laugh, you’re going to adore this three-round word guessing game! First you describe it, then define it, and finally act it out – guaranteed fun for kids and adults alike.

King of Tokyo
Analese’s 9 year old son LOVES this game! Each player is a mutant monster trying to outlast the other monsters. Throughout the game you have to choose to heal your wounds, attack your enemies or get more powers to improve your monster!

Left Right Center
I feel like this is the ultimate group game where everyone is invested. Everyone starts with the same amount of coins/tokens (lots of people will use real money, which increases the excitement). All you do is roll the die and place your coins either to the person to the left, to the right or in the center. And whoever is the last standing, gets the entire pot!

Ligretto
If you’ve only got 20 minutes but want a game that’s pure adrenaline, Ligretto is your jam! Everyone races at the same time to stack cards of the same color from 1 to 10. First one to empty their deck wins!

Linkee
Love New York Times Connections? You’re going to adore this! One player fires off four totally different quiz-style questions, and everyone else has to figure out how the answers are linked – so much fun and perfect for a little friendly brain-bending!

Liars Dice
Liar’s Dice is the ultimate bluffing showdown—roll, bid, and call your friends’ bluffs in fast, hilarious rounds perfect for family game nights or parties. If you have any pirate lovers, this one is sure to be a hit!

Poetry for Neanderthals
From the creators of Exploding Kittens, this is a hilarious word-guessing game where you can only use single-syllable words. Slip up and you might get bopped with a 2-foot inflatable ‘No!’ Stick. Get your team guessing, rack up points, and prepare to be laughing nonstop!

Mantis
This is a back and forth game of stealing from your opponents, getting stolen from or scoring points. This one is really fun, fast and involves some strategy.

Monikers
Yes, this game is just as silly and zany as the cover of the box looks! It’s your classic ‘guess the name on the card’ game, but with 440 of the weirdest, most unusual names you’ve ever seen!

One Night Ultimate Werewolf
Teens and adults alike love this game! Very similar to Mafia, this one has an app to use along with illustrated cards to indicate what role you will be playing each round.

Panda Royale
I’ve never seen so many beautiful, unique dice in one box! This fast, fun game plays in just 20–30 minutes and blends strategy with social interaction – roll the dice, rack up points, and aim for the highest score.

Puns of Anarchy
For families who love wordplay – this one is so punny! (Pun fully intended!) A fast, hilarious party game where players twist famous pop culture names, bands, and movies into the funniest or groan-worthy puns, this one is bound to get hilarious.

Priorities
I love games that let you really get to know each other! In this hilarious party game, you rank everyday items from love to loathe and see if your friends can guess your order. Quick to learn and full of absurd choices, it’s all about laughs, debates, and discovering just how well you really know each other.

Qwixx
We learned this a few summers with Bart’s family. We played it nonstop and I absolutely love it! (There is both a card version and a dice version – they’re pretty similar, so if you already own the dice version, it’s probably not worth buying the card version).

Saboteur
Ever wonder what life would be like for the 7 dwarfs? In this exciting card game, players dig tunnels to find gold while secret saboteurs try to foil their plans. Easy to learn and packed with strategic fun, it’s perfect for kids (mid-elementary and up) and adults, full of twists, and obstacles.

Secret Hitler
Wow! I have never heard of this game and was shocked to see the more than 13,000 5-star reviews for it on Amazon! In this tense game of political intrigue and deception where players are secretly divided into liberals and fascists. Work together (or betray each other) to pass laws, uncover the fascists, and stop Secret Hitler before it’s too late.

Sequence
I love this simple game of cards and tokens. Work with your teammate or on your own to get a sequence of five tokens in a row on the game board!

Seven Wonders
The rules are fairly intimidating – I think Ella spent an hour trying to figure out how to play, but once you figure it out, it’s super super fun and a game only takes about 15 minutes, so it’s perfect for playing over breakfast at our house. Everyone likes it and Tally was playing it well at 6 years old. If you don’t mind a little upfront investment of time learning how to play, it’s endlessly interesting and strategic and every single game is different. I’m a super fan.

So Clover
Some of my favorite games are quick (around 30 minutes) and cooperative (because I can get super competitive!). This one hits both marks perfectly. In this fun guessing game, players secretly write common features for keywords on their Clover boards and work together to figure out each other’s words, all while trying to rack up the highest score possible.

Spoons
This game is such a classic! Everyone starts with four cards and spoons in the middle (one less than there are people). All you have to do is get four of a kind to grab a spoon and move on to the next round. Warning – you have to be fast in this game!

Sushi GoSushi Go

Sushi Go
This is my favorite family game for awhile because it’s pretty quick (we can play all three rounds in about 15 minutes) and I just find it endlessly delightful as you try to choose the correct kinds of sushi to stock up on and pass along the ones you don’t want. It’s one of those games that sounds complicated when someone explains it to you and then after about 30 seconds of playing, you’ve got it down.

Tell Me Without Telling Me
This game is in the same family as Catch Phrase and Taboo, but with a fun challenge: you have just three clue-giving options—act it out, speak only in one-syllable words, or describe it without ever saying the word on your card. It definitely has adult content, so I wouldn’t pull this one out for a family game night with kids.

The Game of Things
In this fun guessing game, one player is the guesser while everyone else secretly writes an answer to a prompt – something like ‘things people do when no one is looking.’ Then it’s up to the guesser to match each response to the person who wrote it. I can see this one getting really funny, really fast!

ticket to rideticket to ride

Ticket to Ride
This was the game that really got Bart and me hooked on playing games with just the two of us. I remember lots of winter weekend mornings playing Ticket to Ride during our first year of marriage. Sometimes, just to switch things up, we each take two sets of trains and two main missions.

Uno No Mercy
For serious UNO fans, this version takes the game to a whole new level. The action cards are downright ruthless – think Draw 10 or Skip Everyone – and if your hand gets too full, you’re automatically knocked out. It’s fast, chaotic, and incredibly fun!

Who’s the Dude
This is a charades game, but with a hilarious twist. It comes with an inflatable ‘dude’ that you have to use to act out as many cards as possible in 45 seconds. I can only imagine how much trickier (and funnier!) it gets when you’re not relying on your own body.

Wits and Wagers
I love a good trivia game, but not one where the trivia is too hard for everyone playing. Wits and Wagers is extra fun because you can still win without even knowing the answers but wagering correctly!
