Book Deals for the Weekend of April 11
We just got home from our spring break trip and it feels SO GOOD to be home!
I’m hoping for a quiet weekend getting over my jet lag and finishing up some good books (and probably doing a puzzle or two!)
Here are some of my favorite book deals going on right now.

The Unselected Journals of Emma M. Lion (Vol. 1 – Vol. 5) by Beth Brower – audiobook – $2.99
If you’ve been around for awhile, you know I love this series! I had read the entire series twice before these came out on audio and I was so excited to try out the audio version – wait until you hear all the voices the narrator does! And if you struggled getting into the physical books, I’m telling you the audiobook really helps. I can’t believe the first 5 books are on sale for under $3!

Thank You For Listening by Julia Whelan – audiobook – $4.99
I LOVE Julia Whelan’s audiobook narration (she narrates Book Lovers!) and her book that she wrote (and narrated!) was an instant best seller. This book is especially fun because it’s all about the world of audiobook narrating. The main character, Sewanee, used to be an actress, but now she has moved into audiobook narration. She got her start in romance novels which she’s decided to leave that behind her, but she gets roped into doing one last romance project. This final project ends up being with the most popular male audiobook narrator of the romance genre, Brock McKnight. You will definitely want to listen to this one on audio! Heads up for one brief open door scene.

Watership Down by Richard Adams – audiobook – $3.99
I read this classic book, about a band of bunnies fighting for survival, 25 years ago, but I remember loving it! (and I’ve heard raves about the Netflix series).

Other Words for Home by Jasmine Warga – audiobook – $5.99
This middle-grade book in verse won a Newbery Honor and it’s about a girl who, with her mother, leaves her older brother and father behind in Syria to live in Cincinnati so they can be safe from the violence erupting in their hometown. (Plus, this one is a Libro.FM deal so you can use it to make a Yoto card!)

Divergent by Veronica Roth – audiobook – $4.99
This dystopian novel was at the top of all the charts when it came out a decade ago and it’s still a fun read and listen for adults and teens!

The Call of the Wild by Jack London – audiobook – $4.99
This classic adventure tells the story of Buck, a pampered dog who’s suddenly forced to survive as a sled dog in the frozen Klondike. It’s intense, emotional, and surprisingly moving – a great pick if you want a timeless story that really sticks with you.

Predictably Irrational: The Hidden Forces That Shape Our Decisions by Dan Ariely – audiobook – $6.99
This book is so fascinating – it has the world’s dullest cover and title, but I promise, I couldn’t put it down. It’s all about how we as humans do plenty of things that aren’t rational, even when we think we know better. (He is a professor at Duke and Bart reported that it is SO hard to get a seat in his class because he’s so popular).

Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty – audiobook – $4.99
I love Liane Moriarty’s books because they’re super engaging without being TOO fluffy, and they’re long enough that you don’t finish it too quickly. It’s one of those books where you don’t want to know too much about it going in – the main thing you need to know is that a parent died at trivia night at the local elementary school. Was it a murder? An accident? And, through 95% of the book, the biggest question is WHO DIED? (Full review here)

Miss Newbury’s List by Megan Walker – audiobook – $3.99
I read her first book and this one has been on my TBR list – I can’t say no to a regency romance! It’s the story about a woman preparing for her marriage to a virtual stranger and the list of things she wants to do before her wedding day.

The Labors of Hercules Beal by Gary D. Schmidt – audiobook – $7.99
I’ve not only put this on a Summer Reading Guide, but alllmmmoost put it on the Everyday Reading Book Club this year! ! I love it so much! After Hercules Beal loses his parents in an accident, his older brother leaves behind his career to come back and raise Hercules and manage the family business. When the new school year starts, Hercules’ new teacher assigns the students a year-long project of recreating the labors of the mythical Hercules. It’s going to be a BIG task! This one is funny, heartbreaking and tender – exactly what you’d expect from Gary D. Schmidt.

The Snow Child by Eowyn Ivey – ebook – $2.99
I really enjoyed the December book from the 2023 Everyday Reading Book Club. This one is set in Alaska in the 1920s, following a couple who has recently arrived trying to make it as homesteaders. It’s pretty bleak for them until they find a little girl, Faina, who lives alone in the forest. This one is based on a Russian folk tale.

PakarPBN
A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.
In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.
The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
