Finlay Donovan is Killing It by Elle Cosimano – ebook – $1.99
I received tons of recommendations for this book before I read it! It’s about a suburban mom who, while going through a messy divorce, is mistaken for a contract assassin. She’s not going to kill someone . . . . but the money would really help get her manipulative ex-husband off her back. Laugh-out-loud funny and a little zany! And I blew through the sequel, which was just as delightful!

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak – ebook – $2.99
When I read this more than a decade ago I gave it a 10/10, no questions asked. This book follows a young girl in Nazi Germany who finds comfort (and a little bit of rebellion) in stealing books and sharing their stories. Narrated by Death, it’s a haunting and beautiful reminder of the power of words. I reread the last few lines over and over to really soak in the ending.

Freewater by Amina Luqman-Dawson – ebook – $1.99
This middle grade novel, and winner of a Newbery Award tells a gripping story about Homer and his little sister Ada, who escape a plantation and discover a hidden community of freedom. It’s an inspiring tale about survival, family, and the fight for what’s right.

Shield of Sparrows by Devney Perry – audiobook – $5.99
This is one of those fantasy‑romance books that’s everywhere right now: a slow‑burn, high‑stakes story about Princess Odessa, whose life gets completely upended when she’s betrothed to Prince Zavier and thrown into a world of ancient magic, monsters, and looming war. If you love enemies‑to‑lovers tension and fierce heroines stepping into their own power, this one’s been a huge favorite in the fantasy community.

Statistically Speaking by Debbie Johnson – audiobook – $3.99
History teacher, Gemma, loves solid facts, statistics and order. Maybe because her past is exact opposite of that. She thinks about the baby she gave up at age 16 every single day and even more so now that “Baby” might be her new student. This one surprised me with how much I enjoyed it!

Slow Dance by Rainbow Rowell – audiobook – $3.99
This was one of my favorite reads of 2024! I REALLY love Rainbow Rowell and this one absolutely worked for me. Her books generally aren’t fast paced but they are so richly told with great character development and swoony romance and this one was one where I had to keep stopping to just soak it all in. I blew through the audiobook in a day or two and I wish it had been twice as long!

The Beverly Cleary Audio Collection by Beverly Cleary – audiobook – $7.99
This collection includes six beloved Beverly Cleary books, including one of my personal favorites, Socks. My girls have listened to this series on repeat for five years straight, and Bart and I enjoy them just as much as they do. With over 16 hours of listening, it’s a fantastic audio collection that’s well worth the price.
