4 Books I’m Currently Reading (+ my team’s picks!)
I have some big reading goals for 2026 and . . . so far I’m not crushing it!
I use the goal tracker on Goodreads and I’m currently 5 books behind if I want to hit my goal.
Ah well, hopefully I’ll make it up as the year goes along!
Here are four books I’m reading right now
The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle by Avi
I was reading a different book aloud to my girls and I could tell we were all losing major steam (when we’re down to reading one time per week, you know it’s not a good sign). I suggested we bag that book and we went on to the next book on our list, which is this one. I LOVED this book when I was a pre-teen and I read it aloud to my kids about 5 years ago but my three younger girls have almost no memory of it so it is fun to revisit!
Unreasonable Hospitality by Will Guidara
I can’t remember who recommended this book to me but it showed up in my library holds and I’m LOVING it so much. Lucky Bart gets to hear about it every day right now while I’m reading it. This is one of those books that I feel like actually works great as a parenting and relationship book as much as a business book! Plus it’s so readable – I was hooked from the first page!
The First State of Being by Erin Entrada Kelly
A friend in my neighborhood invited my 10 year old and me to join a mother/daughter book club and this is the first pick. My daughter already finished it and I’m about 1/3 of the way through it and really enjoying it. I found her first Newbery book, Hello Universe, a little slow, but this one has been a quick read for me! I’m excited to meet and discuss it!
The Rose Code by Kate Quinn
After the January book club pick for Everyday Reading Book Club (The Briar Club), I dove right into this book by the same author. I love a good historical fiction novel and so many people have said this was their favorite Kate Quinn book, so I’m excited to be diving into this one (I’m only a few chapters in so far!).

I Who Have Never Known Man by Jacqueline Harpman
I spent one of my Audible credits on this and I can’t decide if I’m glad I did. The story follows 39 women and one girl who have been locked away in an underground cage. They have no memory of how they got there, why they are there, no concept of time and are being watched around the clock by guards. Their memories of before are present but not complete. This one started out really strong for me, but I’m starting to lose steam. Hoping it will redeem itself with an outstanding ending.

The One with the Kiss Cam by Cindy Steel
This book is a sweet, lighthearted romance that was easy to sink into at the end of the day. I picked it up after seeing it on Kindle Unlimited, and it turned out to be the perfect bedtime read. The story follows Nora and Duke who are unexpectedly thrown into the spotlight after an awkward (and very public) Kiss Cam moment at a Jazz game. What starts as a cringe-worthy situation turns into a slow-building, feel-good romance filled with humor, chemistry, and tender moments. It was such a fun book to read at night, the kind that feels cozy and comforting as I drifted off to sleep.

The Seven Year Slip by Ashley Poston
I started reading this one after seeing it on the Follower Favorite Books of 2025, and because it was available instantly on Libby. Overworked book publicist Clementine’s perfectly planned life unravels when she inherits her aunt’s magical apartment and falls for Iwan, a charming chef who is somehow subletting from seven years in the past. It was a really fun unexpected read, and I thought the epilogue really brought it all together.
